There are 4 sections for the calculator, each requiring inputs. Input boxes are in white, while calculated results are in yellow. At the start, each section holds a typical production configuration for 95mm.
- Burnish Glide Coverage
- Magnetic Cert Coverage
- Frequency/Density/Velocity (FDV)
- Estimate Throughput
1. Burnish Glide CoverageThe Handling Overhead is the time for the automation robot to swap out the disk during test. Maintenance time is the total daily downtime for maintenance tasks, such as head changes.
There are two sub-groups for coverage: Burnish and Glide. Input parameters for each sub-group: IRad: Inner Radius; ORad: Outer Radius; Step: Step Size. Result output parameter: Tracks: track count for the test. Upon changing any of the 3 input parameters, the Tracks result will be automatically calculated.
In the FDV section just to the right of input radii, the Speed input (inch per sec) is used to calculate the spindle rpm range
2. Magnetic Cert CoverageSimilar to Burnish Glide, the Handling Overhead and Maintenance time are used for automation and maintenance down time. Input parameters for coverage are IRad, ORad, and Step. From the FDV section: Freq, Density values are used to calculate the corresponding: Speed (ips), Tracks, and the spindle rpm range.
3. Frequency/Density/VelocityThis section holds the corresponding speed input values for Burnish Glide; and Frequency/Density values for Magnetic Cert. Upon changing the Product type, the corresponding Freq value will be automatically selected. A custom Freq value can be entered when selecting the Product: Other.
4. Estimate ThroughputThis is the summary result of the throughput calculation. Based on a single spindle, and also full "Testers" (workcell).
Depending on the product type the number of spindles used per tester is indicated by x. For example: [T x 8] represent a T-Series with 8 spindle. When the value Testers is changed, additional calculated values will appear to show the total throughput beside the single tester throughput.
